Jared Gordon calls for Paddy Pimblett following win, Pimblett accepts

Jared Gordon is fresh off his UFC Vegas 38 win over Joe Solecki, but may already have his next fight set. Immediately following the unanimous decision victory Gordan had a name on the tip of his tongue. In his post-fight interview, Gordon called the newest UFC lightweight, Paddy Pimblett. Pimblett caught a great deal of attention on the heels of his UFC debut, and Gordon is looking to put an end to that.

“Paddy, Paddy, Paddy,” Gordon chanted. “My man Paddy said he wasn’t going to call anybody out but he had my name in his mouth before his debut. Nothing malicious, I like the guy but I beat his teammate Chris Fishgold and he wanted to get that one back so come and get it. I’ll go 2-0 against the team. I’ll be the Cage Warrior official champion.”

It didn’t take long for Pimblett to accept this challenge from the nine-fight UFC vet.

Jared Gordon has won three in a row and is quickly on his way up the lightweight rankings. Gordon targeting Pimblett is a good move as the young Englishman has had momentum behind his coming into the promotion. Pimblett won his UFC debut over Luigi Vendramini but took some big shots before securing the KO. Gordon has six TKO wins on his resume and is always dangerous on the feet.

Pimblett mentioned during his first fight week that he would never turn down a fight. Now that he has verbally accepted this bout with Gordon it will be interesting if the fight gets pushed through. The UFC may want to protect Pimblett as he has the makings of a star. They tend to start potential stars off slowly and have them work their way up in the organization. Fighting Gordon would be a huge jump in competition for Pimblett at this time.
