Jessica Andrade to make flyweight debut against Katlyn Chookagian

Jessica Andrade is official making the move up to flyweight.

MMA Junkie reported that the UFC is currently finalizing a fight between Andrade and Katlyn Chookagian for Oct. 17.

Originally, Andrade was linked to a fight with Jessica Eye for the same date, but Eye is dealing with injuries and therefore the fight could not be finalized.

Andrade (20-8) won the UFC strawweight championship at UFC 237 when she defeated Rose Namajunas. Her title reign was short lived as she lost to current champion Zhang Weili in 42 seconds in her first title defense. Andrade is now on a two-fight losing streak as she after losing to Weili, she lost a rematch to Namajunas in July at UFC 251 by split decision.

Chookagian (14-3) challenged for the flyweight title in February at UFC 247 where she lost Valentina Shevchenko. She rebounded from the lost by defeating Shevechenko’s sister Antonina.

The Oct. 17 card does not have an official location, however the UFC did not apply for October licensure from the Nevada Athletic Commission, so the event is expected to take place at “Fight Island” on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.

The current Oct. 17 lineup is listed below:

Chan Sung Jung vs. Brian Ortega
Jessica Andrade vs. Katlyn Chookagian
Modestas Bukauskas vs. Jimmy Crute
Muslim Salikhov vs. Claudio Silva
Renato Moicano vs. Magomed Mustafaev
Poliana Botelho vs. Gillian Robertson
Jun Yong Park vs. John Phillips
