Joanna Jędrzejczyk willing to make rematch with Zhang Weili five rounds
A highly anticipated rematch between Joanna Jędrzejczyk and Zhang Weili has been added to the upcoming UFC 275 fight card. Two years ago these two women battled it out in a five-round split decision with Weili coming out on top. The fight was so good that it was awarded Fight of the Year honors for 2020. Now Jędrzejczyk will be getting another chance at the last woman to beat her but this time it will only be slated for three rounds.
In opposition to the fan’s desires, the UFC has booked this matchup for the main event of the UFC 275 card for three rounds. When the fight was first rumored, Dana White himself stated that he would be open to the idea of making it a five-round affair, but in the end, that idea was squashed. The event already has two title fights at the top and adding another 25-minute fight potentially would be too much. Although non-title fights or main events have been made for five rounds on a special occasion. Not this time.
Jędrzejczyk herself was not opposed to making this an all-out war. She took to Twitter to make her case for pleasing the fans.
Should be 5 or not?? I’m willing to do 5 rounds for my fans ❣️💪🏼 @ufc @danawhite https://t.co/NXTfXialSi

Jędrzejczyk has not fought since that first meeting with Weili. She has been taking time off but is now looking for a big return and possibly a title fight with a win over the former champion Weili. As for Weili, she is coming off two back-to-back losses to the current champ Rose Namajunas. She may not be immediately in line for another title shot with a win over Jędrzejczyk but it would certainly help her position.
UFC 275 will be headlined by a light heavyweight championship bout between Glover Teixeira and Jiří Procházka. To co-main will be a flyweight title fight between Valentina Shevchenko and Taila Santos.
