Joe Rogan wants Jon Jones vs. Dominick Reyes 2 to happen next
If Joe Rogan was a UFC matchmaker he’d be making Jon Jones vs. Dominick Reyes 2.
At UFC 247, Jones battled Reyes where many thought it would be an easy fight for “Bones.” Yet, that was not the case as when the fight hit the scorecards most fans and media thought we would hear ‘And New’ which didn’t happen. Since the fight, Reyes has called for a rematch and Joe Rogan hopes that happens next.
“I’m excited to see that rematch,” Rogan said on his Fight Companion podcast (via MMAFighting).“I think Dominick Reyes will be even better in the rematch. I think Dominick Reyes realizes now that it’s all about having the energy in that third, fourth, and fifth round. Having now been to the top of the mountain and faced the dragon, I think he’s gonna come back better than ever.”
Although Joe Rogan thinks Reyes would be better, we’ve seen how much better Jon Jones has been in rematches, as evident by his wins over Daniel Cormier and Alexander Gustafsson. So, the UFC commentator says that makes the fight even more interesting.
“I’d like to see it,” Rogan said referencing Jones’ impressive performance in rematches. “I want to see what Reyes can do, too. Reyes has got that rub now. Reyes is gonna come into that second fight knowing he came a c*nt hair away from being the light heavyweight champion of the world. One judge gave it to Jon four rounds to one which is f*cking embarrassingly bad but other than that . . .”
Whether or not Jones-Reyes 2 will be next is unknown at this time, especially after Jan Blachowicz KO’d Corey Anderson. No matter what, Bones has options for his next fight. But, Rogan hopes it is the Reyes rematch, after the very close and competitive fight at UFC 247.
