Johnny Muñoz discusses his UFC Vegas 64 win and future plans
Johnny Muñoz spent a lot of the time on the road ahead of UFC Vegas 64 and all the work worked paid off.
Ahead of the fight, Muñoz spoke to MyMMANews about his training camp in which he would travel back-and-forth between three location. Those locations included his home gym in California, Mexico and the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas alongside former UFC flyweight champion and current interim flyweight champ Brandom Moreno.
All the different looks helped Muñoz become a very technical fighter and it showed on fight night.
In his fight with Liudvik Sholinian, Muñoz came out keeping all of his punches tight and straight down the pipe. Not only did the shots look sharpe, but they were also landing with tons of success.
Then in the second round, Muñoz spent the opening two minuted continuing to score on the feet before Sholinian would try for a takedown. Muñoz read the takedown, stuffed it and then continue to do good work to finish up the round.
Finally in the last round, Muñoz shocked everyone when he was the one who scored the takedown on way to a clear cut unanimous decision win.
The win was big one for Muñoz as it was the last fight on his UFC contract and he believes after that performance he’ll offered a new UFC deal.
Following the win, Muñoz once again spoke with MyMMANews to discuss his victory, his plans to continue traveling throughout camp and his plans to resign with the UFC.
