Johnny Walker finishes Ryan Spann in round one

Johnny Walker responds to criticism of Thiago Santos fight ahead of UFC return: “The fans are right”

UFC light heavyweight Johnny Walker responded to criticism of the Thiago Santos fight ahead of his return, saying that “the fans are right.”

Walker next steps into the cage on February 19 when he faces Jamahal Hill at UFC Vegas 47. For the Brazilian, it’s an opportunity to bounce back after losing a unanimous decision to Santos in his last fight. To make matters worse, most fans hated the fight as neither Walker nor Santos seemed to want to go for the kill. Now, ahead of his return to the Octagon, Walker promises he will get back to his explosive self.

Speaking to AG Fight in a recent interview, Walker said that he accepts the fans’ criticism of his performance against Santos. That’s why Walker says he will get back to his old ways and go for the finish.

“The fans are right. They want to see blood and heads roll. They’re right, you really have to complain. People who have to take care of themselves, right? We can’t go with the fan vibes. You have to go to win, with strategy. Because it is the highest level, they are the best in the world. If we get there anyway, get punched and the fight is over. So, it has to be more studied to take advantage of opportunities,” Walker said.

“I had some good opportunities (against Marreta) and I missed them. I saw that he felt some of my blows and I let him recover, instead of going up and trying to finish the fight. So, it was something I won’t let happen anymore. I will feel the fight more and when I see that the opponent has felt a blow, I will not miss the opportunity, I will make his mother cry.”

Do you think Johnny Walker will defeat Jamahal Hill in his return to the Octagon at UFC Vegas 47?
