Jose Aldo issues statement on UFC 237 loss
Jose Aldo returned to fight home in Brazil for the second time in 2019 to take on Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 237. However, the fight did not turn out as Aldo had planned. Volkanovski dominated the fight from the get-go and won by unanimous decision. 30-27 on all three judges scorecards.
Many fans thought Aldo would be too much of a step up for Volkanovski but the Australian proved he is one of the best featherweights in the division. Ultimately, Aldo was not pleased with his performance as he took to Instagram to release a statement on the fight.

“I would like to thank everyone who was there and thanked everyone in the arena and in their homes thank you very much, thank all my team @dede_pederneiras @mabogea @guidarellif the trainers @emersonfalcaovieira @aleksandrofg @piratiev_oficial @rafaelviniciusbertho put me like I’ve never been before!
But I have never fought so badly in my life without excuses because I am not of this, but I know of my ability and talent and I can not do it, without taking the merits of my opponent who made his fight but I am sad with myself and I transfer everything in myself because I let it happen and I did not do the fight I was supposed to do.
It’s over now and we’re going to the next! ” – Jose Aldo on Instagram
Aldo was riding a two-fight winning streak with wins over Jeremy Stephens and Renato Moicano before the setback loss to Volkanovski at UFC 237. Now, the question is what is next for Aldo. The former champion wanted a shot at getting his belt back, but also said this could be his last year of fighting. The Brazilian could very well fight out his contract taking on rising prospects in the featherweight division to test where they will be.
No matter what, Aldo is not happy with the way he fought Volkanovski.
