Jose Johnson meets Ronnie Lawrence on DWCS, Sept. 1

Bantamweights Jose Johnson and Ronnie Lawrence will clash on the fourth season of Dana White’s Contender Series.

Cageside Press was the first to report the matchup, which will be a part of the fourth episode on Sept. 1.

Jose Johnson is coming off a first-round knockout win against Rafael Costa at LFA 78 in November 2019. Johnson’s finish went viral after his elbow put Costa out cold.

It is a part of five-consecutive first-round TKO finishes for the 25-year-old. Johnson has come a long way since holding a 6-5 record a little under two years ago.

Lawrence is currently riding a two-fight win streak after spending over two years away from competition. He most recently defeated Garrett Armfield by unanimous decision at LFA 67 in May 2019.

Lawrence is a striker in his own regard with three of his five wins by knockout/TKO. His only defeat came by unanimous decision against now-UFC featherweight Steve Garcia at Bellator 162 in October 2016.

The bout will take place inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.
