Julia Avila discusses her win over Julia Stoliarenko & her new gym
Julia Avila has been through a lot.
Prior to March, she had a number of opponents pull out of fights and she took a short notice fight that she lost.
Then in March, her fight with Julia Stoliarenko was canceled after Stoliarenko collapsed on the scale after weighing in for their fight. Following that, she was thrown out of the gym she was training at.
After that, Avila and her teammates, who also left the gym started a gym of their own. While Avila was working with in her new gym, she also spent some time with Glory MMA and head coach James Krause.
While the time was chaotic, it may turned Avila’s bad luck into good luck.
Avila was finally offered a fight and it was the rescheduling of her fight with Stoliarenko. At the weigh-ins, Stoliarenko made weight no problem. Then on fight night, Avila came out and landed several big strikes that left Stoliarenko bloody and in the third round, Avila finished the fight with a rear-naked choke.
Following her UFC Vegas 30 win over Stoliarenko, Avila spoke to MyMMANews about the win and her new gym. Aside from that she also discussed getting blood on Daniel Cormier’s suit when she hugged him following the win.
