Julian Erosa upsets Sean Woodson with third-round D’arce choke

Welcome back to the UFC Julian Erosa

The last of the Apex cards before “Fight Island,” UFC on ESPN 12 goes down tonight, Saturday, June. 27.

Taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada, the event is headlined by former lightweight challenger Dustin Poirier and rising contender Dan Hooker. Welterweights Mickey Gall and Mike Perry will meet in the co-main event of the evening.

Kicking off the main card on ESPN is a featherweight affair between Sean Woodson and Julian Erosa.

Woodson’s 6 foot 2.5 inch frame is giving his opponents problems. He is coming off a unanimous decision win against Kyle Bochniak in his UFC debut this past October.

It came three months after he knocked out “The Ultimate Fighter” season 24 veteran Terrance McKinney with a second-round flying knee on Dana White’s Contender Series in July 2019.

Erosa keeps coming back, entering his third stint with the UFC. He replaces Canada’s Kyle Nelson on four-days notice, who withdrew due to visa issues.

Erosa fought just once since being cut by the UFC in 2019. He earned a first-round submission against A.J. Bryant at CageSport 60 on Feb. 22.

Erosa is more seasoned than Woodson inside the octagon with five UFC appearances.
