Takashi Sato makes quick work of Jason Witt with first-round TKO

The last of the Apex cards before “Fight Island,” UFC on ESPN 12 goes down tonight, Saturday, June. 27.

Taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada, the event is headlined by former lightweight challenger Dustin Poirier and rising contender Dan Hooker. Welterweights Mickey Gall and Mike Perry will meet in the co-main event of the evening.

The third bout of the evening features a welterweight matchup between Takashi Sato and newcomer Jason Witt.

Sato is coming off his second UFC defeat, a third-round TKO loss to Belal Muhammad at UFC 242 this past September. He dropped to 1-1 inside the octagon, ending a two-fight win streak, which included wins over Ben Saunders and Matt Vaile.

Witt replaces Ramiz Brahimaj on just one-days notice. Brahimaj was forced from the bout after one of his corners tested positive for COVID-19.

Witt enters the bout on a four-fight win streak. He most recently beat Zak Bucia by unanimous decision at FAC 2 on Feb. 22.
