Kamaru Usman shows bout agreement for fight with Tyron Woodley

Karamu Usman may very well be getting the next title shot after all. After months of speculation that the next welterweight title fight will be Tyron Woodley vs. Colby Covington, it appears that is no longer the case. Top contender, Usman sent out a picture of a signed bout agreement to take on the champion in Woodley.

“Hope the hand is ready champ @TWooodley the @ufc bout agreement has been signed and I’ll see you soon 👊🏾👊🏾🇳🇬 #AndNew #NigerianNightmare #GoTime @AliAbdelaziz00 @danawhite @seanshelby @Mickmaynard2” Usman tweeted.

Many are surprised to see Usman tweeting out the bout agreement, given the fact Woodley and Covington have gone and back and forth with each other for months. However, after Usman earned a dominating win over Rafael Dos Anjos, UFC President Dana White said Usman could be getting the next title shot.

“I’ve been talking a lot of smack about him in his last several fights because I feel like he talks too much and doesn’t do enough in the octagon,” White said of Usman during the post-fight media scrum. “Well, he looked damn good tonight. Tonight he went in, and he delivered. He was punching harder in the fifth round than he was in the first round. Just punching, kicking, wrestling – the whole thing was impressive.”

“I would like to see (Usman) fight Woodley now after seeing that,” White added. “Listen, Colby Covington pulled out of the fight, didn’t defend his belt, this, that, and the whole thing. I’m one of these guys when I just see a fight like this, I want to see Usman fight now. We’ll see what happens, though I’m not saying that’s the case. Sure (it’s possible).”

Usman most recently fought at the TUF 28 Finale where he won a unanimous decision win over Dos Anjos. Meanwhile, Woodley last fought at UFC 228 where he defeated rising star Darren Till rather easily.

Even if Usman may deserve the title shot, many expected Covington to get that shot. Now, if Woodley agrees to this fight, Usman and Woodley could be fighting very soon.
