Kell Brook Batters Amir Khan In UK Rivalry Showdown
Perhaps years late, but better late than never, Kell Brook and Amir Khan finally fought as two of the iconic UK welterweight contenders. The popular Amir Khan couldn’t withstand the onslaught of Kell Brook and was saved by the referee in round six. Khan, who should think about retiring after his last big time fights, stood no chance against Brook who walked him down all night.
Breaking down Kell Brook Beating Amir Khan
All in all, Kell Brook notched the highest profile win of his career on the night with the finish of Khan. His previous best was a majority decision over Shawn Porter. But tonight, he put on an absolute beating against Khan. After coming up short against GGG, Errol Spence and Terence Crawford, Brook gets big ups for chasing down the Khan fight.
From the bell, Khan stood no chance against Brook and was jittery coming out. He often threw himself out of balance and position in the early two rounds which led to Khan being wobbled by Kell Brook. With a big right, Khan was looking for his sea legs and was saved by the bell.
Khan did settle in somewhat and didn’t throw such wild punches. But it didn’t matter as Brook walked through, dipping and slipping his way, landing the required one-twos and not giving Khan anything to work with defensively. Khan started fighting to get down and dirty with boxing in the clinch but Brook was smart on it.
Ultimately, Amir Khan didn’t have the boxing chops for Kell Brook. The clean boxing technique from Brook won him the fight. He stuck to the one-twos, smart hooks, and sound defensive footwork to systematically dismantle Khan.
Coming into round six, after wobbling Khan at the end of five, Brook comes out swinging for the fences. Khan shells up and didn’t have anything left in the tank. Amir Khan would be saved by the referee early in round six and Kell Brook would be declared the winner.
