Kevin Holland is back.
Holland, who took the UFC by storm in 2020 going 5-0 has struggled to begin 2021. He suffered back-to-back decision losses to Derek Brunson and Marvin Vettori in fights he was dominated in. Since then, he talked about taking time off to work on his wrestling and possibly drop down to welterweight. Yet, according to MMAFighting, he will remain at middleweight as he will face Kyle Daukaus on a Fight Night card on October 2. The location of the card is to be determined.
Kevin Holland (21-7), as mentioned is on a two-fight losing skid but is still ranked at 14th at middleweight. Before the setbacks, he went 5-0 in 2020 where he scored a KO win over Jacare Souza, a TKO win over Charlie Ontiveros, a decision win over Darren Stewart, and TKO wins over Joaquin Buckley and Anthony Hernandez. Since joining the UFC in 2018 he’s 8-4 with his other two losses to Brendan Allen and a short notice decision loss to Thiago Santos. He also holds notable wins over Gerald Meerschaert and Alessio Di Chirico.
Kyle Daukaus (10-2) is just 1-2 in the UFC and coming off a hard-fought decision loss to Phil Hawes back in May. Prior to that, he earned a decision win over Dustin Stolzfus in November at UFC 255 to win his first UFC fight after losing a close decision on short notice in his UFC debut against Brendan Allen. Daukaus was the Cage Fury FC middleweight champion before signing with the UFC.
The main event of the Fight Night card on October 2 will be Thiago Santos vs. Johnny Walker at light heavyweight.
With the addition of Kevin Holland and Kyle Daukaus, the Fight Night card on Oct. 2 is as follows:
- Thiago Santos vs. Johnny Walker
- Grant Dawson vs. Diego Ferreira
- Jared Gordon vs. Joe Solecki
- Bethe Correia vs. Karol Rosa
- Fernando Padilla vs. Sean Soriano
- Douglas Silva de Andrade vs. Gaetano Pirrello
- Kyle Daukaus vs. Kevin Holland
