Kevin Holland to face Jack Della Maddalena in Noche UFC co-main event
Just two months after both of them most recently fought, Kevin Holland and Jack Della Maddalena are set to face each other in the co-main event of Noche UFC on September 16. The event will be headlined by a women’s flyweight title fight rematch between champion Alexa Grasso and former champion Valentina Shevchenko.
Kevin Holland last fought at UFC 291 against Michael Chiesa when he picked up a first-round submission victory, his second consecutive win after he had secured a third-round knockout victory over Santiago Ponzinibbio at UFC 287 in April. The current two-fight winning streak for Holland comes after he dropped two in a row to Stephen Thompson and Khamzat Chimaev.
Since moving down to welterweight from middleweight, Holland has compiled a 4-2 record and is currently ranked 12th in the welterweight division. Holland also holds the UFC record for the most fights in a 12-month period, when he fought 7 times between May of 2020 and April 2021, he went 5-2 during that span.
Jack Della Maddalena is one of the fastest-rising prospects in the entire UFC, having won five consecutive fights since joining the promotion after being rewarded a contract in his 2021 Dana White’s Contender Series fight. His most recent win came last month in a short-notice bout against Bassil Hafez who took the fight to Della Maddalena, and “JDM” picked up the split decision victory.
The fight against Hafez came one week after Della Maddalena lost two consecutive opponents who were scheduled to fight him at UFC 290 but both had to be pulled due to medical concerns.
With Kevin Holland being ranked 12th in the division and Della Maddalena being ranked 14th, the winner of this matchup could see themselves catapult into the division’s Top-10 rankings.
Noche UFC will be the UFC’s celebration of Mexican Independence Day and will be hosted at the T-Mobile Arena on September 16, broadcasted on ESPN+.
