KOTC Announces Huge “Starbound II” Card for December 2, Sherwin Price defends

20-months after the original “Starbound” event took place, King of the Cage returns to the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho, NM, presenting “Starbound II” on Sunday, December 2, where the Jr. Welterweight title is on the line.

160 lb. Champion “The Genius” Sherwin Price (5-0) defends the Jr. Welterweight strap for the first time against Nick “The Italian Stallion” Angeloni (3-0) in the main event. Price won the title back in July with his fourth straight submission win, using an omoplata, after three consecutive rear naked choke finishes. “The Genius” has three first round finishes as a pro including his debut, a TKO, at the original KOTC: Starbound. Angeloni has fought all his pro bouts for KOTC, scoring a TKO of Justin Zabroski in Feb. of 2017, submitted Matthew Gomez in Dec. of 2017, and coming off a decision win over Jeff Creighton this past May.

The co-main event will see Nikko Nathan from Force of 1 in Clovis, NM, who was a KOTC Amateur World Championships winner, against Derek Perez from Perez Fighting Systems in Belen, NM. Two weeks ago Nathan defeated Rondale Hubbert in boxing match, by unanimous decision, on 24-hours notice.

In an all Albuquerque battle at 135 lbs. Fit NHB’s Charlie Williams, who’s won a SCS (sugar creek showdown) title faces Terry Taylor, who has 8 professional fights under his belt combining MMA & Boxing.

Also at 135-pounds, experienced competitors meet as 21 fight vet Josh “The Destroya” Montoya from Santa Fe, NM, squares off with Belen, NM, Gene “The Kid” Perez, who has 32 professional bouts between boxing and MMA.

At 125 lbs. ,“Freakstrong” Turrell Galloway from Fit NHB, who has a 75% finishing rate meets Iowa’s Marcel Tong Van, who has a 86% finishing rate. JacksonWink striker Jon Sparks faces gritty Texan Joe Veloz. Plus former KOTC Champion Bill “Wild Bill” Albrecht clashes with heavy hitter Gabe Rodriguez. Additionally, opponents are still being finalized for Luis Galvanho and Evan Delong.

In addition to the stacked main card, the undercard will feature many of the areas best up and coming amateurs. Not only will they be putting their skills to the test inside the Cage, but King of the Cage will be awarding one pro contract to the top amateur fighter of the night and will also name two amateur fighters to an amateur developmental deal highlighting them as featured amateur fighters on King of the Cage cards in 2019.

The winner of the pro contract will receive a KOTC ‘Amateur of the Year’ trophy, a multi-fight contract with KOTC (non-exclusive), a promotional package which includes professional promo videos and photographs along with promotional support, and a professional fight gear package. The winners of the featured amateur bouts will receive four featured fights on King of the Cage Events in 2019, a promotional package including videos, photographs, and promotional support,and a training gear package.

To be eligible amateur fighters should be from the SW region to include NM, CO, AZ, and West Texas. They must also meet the following requirements:

For the Pro contract, fighter should be an outstanding amateur who intends to turn pro on their next bout. They should show creative and aggressive self promotion on social media platforms leading up to this event and have a solid following in attendance at Santa Ana event. Must have a winning record as an amateur.

For the Developmental Amateur, fighter should have no more than five fights , show creative and aggressive self promotion on social media platforms leading up to this event, and have a solid following in attendance at Santa Ana Event.
