Lauren Murphy glad corner didn’t stop Jessica Andrade fight at UFC 283

UFC women’s flyweight contender Lauren Murphy says she is glad that her corner didn’t stop the Jessica Andrade fight at UFC 283.

Murphy absorbed 231 significant strikes, including 61 in the first round, 75 in the second round, and 95 in the third round against Andrade in their main card fight at UFC 283 in Brazil. Fans online and even the commentators suggested at numerous times throughout the second and third rounds that the corner should throw in the towel. But they didn’t, and Murphy was left to fight until the final bell, losing the unanimous decision at the end of the three rounds with scorecards of 30-25, 30-25, and 30-26.

Despite the fact Murphy was not competitive in the fight and absorbed a ton of damage, she is glad that her corner didn’t stop the fight. Taking to her social media following the event, Murphy said that she was happy that her corner didn’t stop the fight, suggesting that she is going to take some time off now to heal up.

Okay so basically every minute I’ve spent in Rio -besides these 15 right here- has been fantastic. The fight was a beat down but not the way I imagined it. Sometimes shit goes down and you just gotta learn from it and get better. Jessica is an insanely tough opponent and I will learn a lot from her. All these experiences -the good ones and bad ones -make me a better athlete and human. Thankfully I’m all good, nose is a little busted up and my head needs rest, but I’ll be fine in a few days. I’m glad my corner didn’t stop the fight. Tbh I thought the ref was going to stop it in the second round but the bell rang before he decided to. Either way, I was grateful for the chance to keep fighting. My head and nose will heal with rest, and my heart will heal with time. My adult life has been a dream, and sometimes I have to pay for that dream. I’ll be back sometime, but for now I’m just gonna lick my wounds and rest a bit. Thanks Rio for a wonderful stay and to the @ufc for an amazing trip and to @jessicammapro for the fight.

Do you think the corner of Lauren Murphy should have stopped the fight against Jessica Andrade at UFC 283?
