Leandro Higo full Bellator 249 post-fight press conference

Leandro Higo sent a message to the Bellator bantamweight division.

The Brazilian dominated Ricky Bandejas on the ground, earning a second-round rear-naked choke victory at Bellator 249 on Thursday, Oct. 15. The two traded on their feet for majority of the first round, but Higo welcomed Bandejas’ to his world inside the Mohegun Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

Higo told MyMMANews and other members of the media during his post-fight press conference, he expects a title shot against current champion Juan Archuleta next. If not, Higo is targeting Irish bantamweight James Gallagher.

The 31-year-old made a strong case for both with his finish over Bandejas. Althoug Archuleta defeated Bandejas via unanimous decision at Bellator 214 in January 2019, Archuleta struggled to take down Bandejas.

Higo finished all two of his takedown attempts against Bandejas.

As far as Gallagher goes, Bandejas finished Gallagher via first-round TKO at Bellator 204 in August 2018.

“I want that title shot, but if I don’t get that title shot, i want the Irish chicken James Gallagher,” Higo said.

“He [Gallagher] took an [expletive] whooping when he fought Ricky Bandejas and I took out Ricky Bandejas like it was nothing and that’s is exactly what’s going to happen when I fight James Gallagher.”

Following the victory, Leandro Higo spoke to MyMMANews and other media outlets following his win at Bellator 249. His full post-fight interview can be seen in the video above.
