Lilly outpoints Caceras in MMA Live main event – FULL RESULTS

By Kyle Eberts and Scott Lewis

The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida played host this past Saturday to over 2,500 fans that came out to watch Burt Watson Promotions present the debut show of MMA Live, with Mike Lilly (6-5) pulling off the upset win over “Know Way” Jose Caceras (14-9-1) in the main event.

The energy was up and the crowd was on their feet at the ‪Hard Rock Hollywood in preparation for the start of MMA Live’s main event between Caceras, the only man to ever defeat the current UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, and his former high school wrestling rival, Lilly.

Lilly – who had come out victorious in all of their previous wrestling matchups between the two – came out fast with his jab and taking control of the center of the octagon, while Caceras tried to slow his pace, firing off a spinning back-fist to answer Lilly. Caceras stayed active and pressed forward, using his length to create separation by throwing a array of leg kicks at Lilly.

Lilly would fire back with leg kicks of his own before getting in on a single leg, raising Caceras into the air and slamming him to the ground. Caceras kept his composure following the big slam, trying to work off his back as he recovered guard, as Lilly landed strikes from the top position, beginning to control the fight inch by inch.

Caceras worked back to his feet but not without being hit with a huge right hand from Lilly, who was also effective with his dirty boxing against the cage in the first round. Caceras would land a huge spinning back kick to the body, and followed it up with a kick below the belt that the referee missed. Lilly would eventually secure another takedown and end the round on top.

The second round saw both fighters quickly taking the center of the octagon, with Lilly catching a huge body kick and slamming Caceras to the ground. Caceras worked from his back and attempted an armbar and then a kimura, but Lilly avoided the submissions and the fighters were back on their feet. A 1-2, leg kick combo into a spinning back kick flurry by Caceras all missed, only for Lilly to land a huge overhand right!

Lilly then shoots in for the takedown, picking Caceras up over his shoulder and slamming him back to the canvas as the crowd erupted. The second stanza ends with Lilly on top taking very little damage and landing the most significant strikes in the round.

The third and final round begins with both fighters feeling each other out, with a big kick by Caceras landing, only to be met with a huge right hand counter to a takedown attempt by Lilly, as he is all over Caceras in the early parts of the round, securing side control and holding the position.

Caceras, desperate to get to his feet, responded with a sweep of Lilly to end up on top, where he lands a huge right hand in the process before both fighters rise back up to their feet. Immediately, Lilly shot in for the takedown, snatched the legs of Caceras and slammed him back to the ground yet again.

Lilly landed some effective ground and pound before the ref stood them up, with both fighters firing off huge shots just before another clinch and slam takedown by Lilly as the round came to an end.

With the unanimous decision victory, Lilly is now on a 3-fight winning streak. Caceras has lost two fights in a row.
