Lydia Warren discusses her Peak Fighting 28 victory
Lydia Warren officially has win No. 2 under her belt as she looked great at Peak Fighting 28.
The fight marked her first fight since she won her professional MMA debut for Jorge Masvidal’s iKON FC promotion in June of 2022.
It was 11 months between fights, but the brief time between fights didn’t have an impact on her performance.
Warren trains out of Jackson Wink MMA and being a part of the world-famous gym gives Warren the opportunity to train with the best fighters in the world.
As she put it, she gets to fight to the death every day in training, so a few months between an official fight doesn’t mean that she’s not fighting.
Every day, Warren shows up at the gym and works on improving her skill sets and in her second professional fight, you can see the improvements.
In Warren’s first fight, she felt that she spend more time countering and had so much energy following the fight.
This time around, Warren wanted to apply pressure and pace and use it to her advantage. She did just that.
At Peak Fighting 28, Warren fought Meaghan Penning and as soon as the fight started, she immediately dictated the pace.
Her constant pressure and heavy volume was too much for Penning to overcome and Warren picked up a clear-cut unanimous decision win.
Warren of course is her own worst critic and wanted to use more wrestling in the fight, but her coaches have calmed her down as they were thrilled with the way Warren looked as they know there are big things on the horizon for her.
As for that next big thing, Warren has an idea for it should be.
Following her win, Warren called for a shot at the Peak Fighting flyweight title which is currently vacant. There is no word at this time as to whether or not Warren will get that shot, but she is confident they’ll be calling soon to set that fight up.
In the meantime, Warren is just enjoying the win, continuing to train and of course working her other job at Hooters in which she recently went viral on TikTok for calling out a customer that was taking photos of her.
Following her most recent win, Warren once again spoke with MyMMANews to discuss her performance, her hopes of getting a title shot and her teammate and training partner Michelle Waterson-Gomez being a part of the Peak Fighting broadcast team during her fight.
