Mackenzie Dern ordered to pay $4,006 per month in spousal and child support fees, $10,000 court fees

Mackenzie Dern looked nearly unstoppable in her UFC Vegas 73 main event bout against Angela Hill on May 20. The rising strawweight star might have had a little something extra to prove and to fight for, as new details have emerged about an ugly separation from her estranged husband, Wesley Santos.

In March, Santos, the father of Dern’s three-year-old daughter, Moa, asked the court for full custody.

Dern later filed a petition for a domestic violence restraining order, where she attached videos of one alleged incident of abuse in which she alleges Santos threw her phone, water bottle, pillows and bedding while harassing and intimidating her.

Santos also states that he was not the aggressor.

“I never physically attacked Mackenzie, she is an MMA fighter,” he wrote in a court filing. “I would never even try to get physical with her. I would have no chance.”

The UFC strawweight also accused her estranged husband of abusing her two dogs by repeatedly striking them, and committing financial abuse by denying her access to sponsor money she earned in a Brazilian bank account, making unauthorized credit card purchases on her credit card, and forging a lease renewal on the apartment they once shared.

According to documents, the court did not side with either Dern or Santos on allegations of abuse, finding the couple may have engaged in mutual combat during incidents of alleged abuse between them, and ordered joint custody of Moa.

Since Dern was declared the primary earner, she was ordered to pay $10,000 of her estranged husband’s court fees. Additionally, she was ordered to pay him spousal and child support totaling $4,006 per month.

Dern and Santos are due back in court next month to rule on a restraining order filed by Dern in April and the final custody agreement.
