Marat Grigorian Out of ONE: Only the Brave Bout Due to COVID-19

Marat Grigorian will no longer be main eventing a ONE Championship show on January 28th.

South China Morning Post first reported the news and their source indicated to them that Grigorian returned a positive COVID 19 test relatively recently.

The featherweight kickboxing semi-final bout is still a go later this week at Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Chingiz Allazov will no longer fight Grigorian at ONE: Only The Brave. But will instead test skills against Smokin’ Jo Nattawut in the second stage of the tournament.

Nattawut was already on the card and readying to fight Dovydas Rimkus. A prizefight that was actually a featherweight grand prix alternate bout.

Grigorian is a former Glory lightweight champion who punched his ticket to the semi-finals by finishing K1 Max/Shoot Boxing legend Andy Souwer at ONE: First Strike in October.

Smokin’ Jo Nattawut is a former multi-division Lion Fight world champion and WMC Muay Thai champion.

Nattawut fought in the 2019 featherweight grand prix where he fell in the semi-finals to Giorgio Petrosyan via first-round KO. This 2021 featherweight kickboxing grand prix crack whereby he slides into the semi-final presents quite the redemptive opportunity.

On the opposing end of the ONE featherweight kickboxing grand prix bracket, Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong tests skills against Davit Kyria. That semi-final bout also takes place this coming Friday as both finalists advance on the same night.

ONE: Only The Brave has been hit with multiple bout cancellations. In fact, this is the second main event bout to fall through following Anatoly Malykhin versus Kirill Grishenko being repositioned.

Both Malykhin and Grigorian are fighters that hone their craft at the Tiger Muay Thai gym.

Despite these contests falling by the wayside, many great martial artists will still take to the ONE Circle in a few days.
