Marlon Moraes calls out Cody Garbrandt and Dominick Cruz, “No Love” says fight was offered for October
Marlon Moraes is getting frustrated sitting on the sidelines.
The Brazilian has not fought since he beat Jose Aldo by split decision at UFC 245, who Aldo is now fighting for the vacant bantamweight title at UFC 251. He was supposed to fight Petr Yan in June in the main event of UFC Kazakhstan but the event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since then, Moraes has been looking for a fight but has yet to get one. Now, he has taken to Instagram to call out former champions, Cody Garbrandt and Dominick Cruz.

“I’m not the best making excuses!” Moraes wrote. “I was taught to say yes for every challenge. Get the F.. in the Ring and Fight. Enough is enough thats names available and they all saying No. what’s up? @cody_nolove fastest hands in all roster etc etc why No ??? @dominickcruz best bantamweight all the time etc etc why no???… Am I wrong???? Would you watch these fights?”
The callouts certainly make sense as whoever would win the fight could very well earn the next title shot after Aljamain Sterling. And, it appears Garbrandt likes the fight too as he replied to the post saying the fight was offered for October.
“October you already was told this from your manager @aliabdelaziz000 don’t come on here trying to act tough. State the facts,” Garbrandt replied.
As mentioned, Marlon Moraes returned to the win column last time out with the decision win over Aldo. Before that, he suffered a TKO loss to Henry Cejudo for the vacant bantamweight title. In the UFC, the Brazilian has notable wins over Raphael Assuncao, Jimmie Rivera, and Aljamain Sterling.
Cody Garbrandt, meanwhile, snapped his three-fight losing skid at UFC 250 where he knocked out Assuncao in a highlight-reel fashion. As for Cruz, he returned at UFC 249 after three years away where he lost by TKO to Cejudo for the title.
