Marvin Vettori vs. Jared Cannonier – Preview and Prediction

Marvin Vettori and Jared Cannonier will take the stage in the main event of UFC Vegas 75 in this weekend in what isn’t the best card the UFC has ever put on.

Nonetheless, the middleweight matchup is a big one has its a meeting of two former title challengers.

Ahead of the fight, let’s breakdown the matchup and predict the winner. The full preview and prediction can also be seen in the video above.

Breakdown

Both men bounced back into the win column after coming losses in their previous outings.

Also, both men lost title opportunities to Israel Adesanya and both couldn’t get passed former champion Robert Whittaker.

When looking at their records, Vettori has struggled with some elite strikers and Cannonier has struggled with bigger puts who can grapple and wrestle.

So, it’s a chess match here.

Tale of the Tape

Favors Vettori as he’s 10 years younger and is three inches taller.

Cannonier does have a three and a half inch reach advantage which is big for him since he’s going to look to strike.

Both men are huge for the middleweight division, which doesn’t show up on the tale of the tape, but is worth noting.

Oddsmakers

They are torn on who to pick.

DraftKings, Bet MGM and Unibet all have the odds even and an official pick ‘em fight.

FanDuel (Vettori -120, Cannonier -106) and sportsbetting.ag (Vettori -112, Cannonier -108) give Vettori the slightest of nods, but the fight is basically a pick ‘em.

Prediction

Vettori wins. Tough one to call, but Vettori seems like better pick.

Whoever can impose their will is going to win as Vettori will look to wrestle and make it a dog fight and Cannonier will look to throw hard, fast and heavy damaging shots throughout the fight.

The fight will most likely go the distance, but a stoppage is defiantly in the cards here.

The reason to pick Vettori goes to the tale of the tape. He’s a lot younger, taller and will most likely be the bigger guy in the octagon.
