Matt “Semi” Semelsberger gets the call of a lifetime, UFC bound in 3 weeks

Interview with Matt Semelsberger above

Welterweight heavy-hitter, Matt “Semi” Semelsberger is one of the newest signees to the worlds largest MMA promotion, the UFC. Standing at 6-2 as a professional, Semelsberger worked his way up through the east coast regional circuit fighting and excelling in all of the regional promotions along the way. Coming off of a first round knockout in February, Semelsberger has wisely awaited the proper opponent and time to step back in the cage.

As they say, patience is a virtue. Just as Semelsberger’s itch to fight became unbearable, the call from the big show came. His UFC debut comes on three weeks notice as he will be facing Philip Rowe at UFC Fight Night: Munhoz vs. Edgar on August 22nd.

“I got that call. I got that opportunity. I’m going to hop on it, man! I’m ready to go prove to everybody there that I’m staying! I’m here to stay,” Semelsberger says with an increasingly passionate tone.

Discussing how his UFC debut will play out, Semelsberger makes it no mystery his nerves are high when he makes the walk to the cage. However, embracing the fear and using it as a fire when the cage door closes is imminent, and he expects nothing less on fight night.

“If this fight goes in my favor, I either knock him out very early. Or, I’m on him the whole fight and I take it by decision.
