Barber (8-1) is a rising star and this fight will mark the first time she’s fought since losing her career fight to Roxanne Modafferi in January at UFC 246. In the fight, Barber tore her ACL and spent most of the fight on one leg. She’s dedicated this time off to rehabbing her injured knee.
Prior to the set back, Barber set a goal to become the youngest UFC champion ever. The Dana White Contender Series alum is 3-1 in the UFC with wins over Hannah Cifers, JJ Aldrich and Gillian Robertson.
Grasso (12-3) struggled to make the 115 pound strawweight limit so in August she made the decision to move up to flyweight. The Mexican looked great at 125 pounds as she won her flyweight debut over Ji Yeon Kim by unanimous decision.
Grasso holds wins over Randa Markos and Kowalkiewicz. Her losses have come against stiff competition as he defeats have come at the hands of Felice Herrig, Tatiana Suarez and a narrow majority decision loss to Carla Esparza.
There is no location for the UFC’s Feb. 13 event. A strawweight fight between Mallory Martin and Polyana Viana has also been booked for the card.
