“The Young Assassin” Melvin Guillard has signed to the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship organization and will meet fellow former UFC fighter, Isaac Vallie-Flagg at BKFC 7 on August 10.
The 36-year old Guillard comes to the promotion after splitting his win record in the sport of bare knuckle while competing overseas with another organization. He defeated both Dan Breeze and Leighton Brady by way of knockout, while dropping two decisions to Jimmy Sweeney.
His tenure with the UFC dates back to the Ultimate Fighter Season 2 in 2005 and spanned all the way up until March 2014. Since then Guillard has only won one MMA bout, a victory over Gesias Cavalcante in July 2014. He has dropped eight MMA bouts and had one no-contest following that WSOF 11 win.
Guillard recently pled guilty to multiple assault charges in two separate instances. The first was in June 2018 when Guillard was working as a bouncer at The Ginn Mill bar in Denver, Colorado. Police say a man walked up to Guillard and a confrontation began, and that is when Guillard punched the man, knocking him out cold. The second, Guillard was a patron at Bar Standard in Denver when he got into an altercation with another man, and knocked him out.
He was hit with six charges including two felonies but will not spend anytime behind bars as time has already been served. However, Guillard will serve two-years probation as part of his plea agreement.
Vallie-Flagg has two bare knuckle boxing wins, one for BKFC and one for the now defunct WBKFF. Vallie-Flagg defeated Randy Hedderick by way of technical knockout at BKFC 5 in April. He competed four times for the UFC.
BKFC 7 takes place on August 10 at the in Biloxi, Mississippi. The event is headlined by a matchup between former UFC fighters Jim Alers and Leonard Garcia. Also, Chase Sherman and Arnold Adams will battle for the promotion’s heavyweight championship.
