Following the win, Chiesa spoke to MyMMANews to discuss his win and to detail his future.

Chiesa, who is looking to fight two more times this year, said that after speaking with UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby, 2021 “will be the year be of the welterweights” as the division is excepted to move along with some big matchups.

Ranked at No. 8 in the world by the official UFC welterweight rankings, Chiesa is hoping to get one of those big fights as he claims that he’s not accepting a fight unless its someone ranked within the top five. Following his win over Magny, Chiesa called out former UFC interim welterweight champion Colby Covington, but he understands that a fight with Covington maybe on the back burner as Covington has been rumored to have a fight with Jorge Masvidal for sometime now.

Aside from the fight game, Chiesa is looking forward to doing more broadcast work for ESPN and he’s about to start diving into the world of podcasting.
