Mickey Gall earns shot against CM Punk, chokes out Jackson in 45 seconds
Earlier this year we learned that Mickey Gall, the 1-0 professional mixed martial artist from New Jersey would earn a shot against CM Punk later this year. There was only one caveat to the announcement, Gall must first get past Mike Jackson, a fighter with an 0-0 professional mixed martial arts record who also happens to be an MMA Journalist.
Well, Gall did it, choking out Jackson in just 45 seconds at UFC Fight Night 82 tonight.
Gall was discovered during UFC president Dana White’s reality show “Looking for a Fight” and then signed as a possible opponent for Punk in his debut. The fight happened in November at Dead Serious 17 when he defeated Ron Templeton via rear-naked choke in Round 1.
CM Punk, whose real name is Phil Brooks left professional wrestling in the WWE in 2014 and has been training to fight in a professional MMA bout. Although his debut did not happen in 2015 it looks as if he will make his way to the octagon in 2016 against Gall.
Gall defeated Jackson tonight in the main event of the UFC Fight Night 82 preliminary bouts on UFC Fight Pass.
Gall is a brown belt in Jiu-Jitsu under David Adiv. Brooks is training at Roufusport under legendary trainer, Duke Roufus.
