Miesha Tate vs. Lauren Murphy off of UFC 276

A women’s flyweight bout pitting Miesha Tate vs. Lauren Murphy is off of UFC 276 as the promotion announced the bout has been scratched.

UFC 276 takes place on Saturday, July 2 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The card is absolutely stacked with two title fights at the top of the bill and a number of big names and stars littered throughout the card. One of those stars is the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Tate. After a long career spent at 135lbs, Tate announced she is dropping down to 125lbs to make a run for the flyweight belt, currently owned by Valentina Shevchenko. The UFC matched Tate up with a former title challenger in the durable Murphy, and the two were supposed to open up the UFC 276 pay-per-view card next week.

Unfortunately, the fight between Tate and Murphy has been scratched from UFC 276. During the broadcast for UFC Vegas 57, the promotion included an updated graphic of UFC 276 with Tate vs. Murphy off the card. According to ESPN’s Marc Raimondi, it’s an issue on the Murphy side, but the hope is that she will be able to fight in the coming weeks, potentially at UFC Long Island in mid-July.

Miesha Tate vs. Lauren Murphy is off the UFC 276 card, per the #UFCVegas57 broadcast. Sources told ESPN that Murphy is out for undisclosed reasons.

Sources said Tate is very unlikely to fight next week in Vegas. Most likely scenario is Tate vs. Murphy being rebooked for later in July. The Long Island card is the frontrunner, per sources.

It will be interesting to see what the UFC does with this matchup, but it appears as though the hope is that the promotion can keep it intact for an upcoming fight card.

Do you hope to see the UFC rebook Miesha Tate vs. Lauren Murphy or would you rather see Tate get booked to fight someone else instead?
