Cat Zingano wants Bellator women’s featherweight title shot against Cris Cyborg next

Top 145lbs contender Cat Zingano says that she wants a Bellator women’s featherweight title shot against Cris Cyborg next.

Zingano defeated a tough Pam Sorenson at Bellator 282 this past Friday, a win that upped her Bellator record to a perfect 3-0. For Zingano, she believes it should be a win that’s good enough to get her a women’s 145lbs title shot against the champ Cyborg. Although there has been some recent back-and-forth between the two in regards to drug testing for a potential fight, it does seem like both women are interested in booking the matchup, as long as they are able to come together as far as their differences go.

Speaking to the media following Bellator 282, Zingano confirmed that she wants to fight Cyborg next for the belt. As far as Zingano goes, these are two of the longest-tenured veterans of women’s mixed martial arts, and the time has come for the two to fight. The two will still have to bridge the gap as far as potential drug testing goes, but if they can figure out a solution, then it appears this title fight has legs.

“I do (think I should get a title shot). I feel like I’ve done a good job moving up the ranks in Bellator and getting the experience. The environment is here. Me and Cyborg are here. We’ve both been talking about each other for quite a while. Putting it together obviously makes a lot of sense,” Zingano said (via MMAjunkie.com). “I think we have very different styles, and different styles make awesome matchups. I think that’s cool and I think it’ll be interesting. We’re both OGs and we both came from training in the same kind of hard-knocks environments to come up and still figuring it out and making it happen.”

Do you hope that Bellator is able to book Cat Zingano against Cris Cyborg next?
