Nick Newell full Bellator 250 media day press conference
Nick Newell is coming off his third career defeat when he faces Zach Zane at Bellator 250 this Thursday, Oct. 29.
Newell is yet to lose back-to-back in his career and always managed to string wins together following a defeat. The Connecticut native plans to do the same this time around. It starts at the Mohegun Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
In his last outing, Newell suffered split decision loss to Manny Muro at Bellator 232 in October 2019. The defeat snapped a two-fight win streak for the 34-year-old.
Newell is not getting any younger, but still brings a lot of experience into the cage. He is the former XFC lightweight champion and challenged current UFC lightweight Justin Gaethje for the World Series of Fighting strap. Geathje defeated Newell via second-round TKO WSOF 11 in 2014.
Newell also appeared on Dana White’s Contender Series in July 2018, suffering a unanimous decision loss to current UFC lightweight Alex Munoz.
Zane is an experienced veteran in his own right at 14-9. His two most recent losses came to former UFC lightweight Max Rohskopf and new Bellator signee and former LFA featherweight champion Justin Gonzalez.
Zane is coming off a unanimous decision win against Nainoa Dung in his promotional debut at Bellator 36 last December
