Nong-O Hama Delivers Vintage Performance In Unanimous Decision Win Over Kongthoranee Sor Sommai
May 2, 2025 – Bangkok, Thailand: ONE Championship (ONE) returned to the iconic Lumpinee Stadium for ONE Fight Night 31: Kongthoranee vs. Nong-O II.
In an electrifying main event, former longtime ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nong-O Hama turned back the clock with a vintage performance, defeating #3-ranked flyweight Muay Thai contender Kongthoranee Sor Sommai in a thrilling three-round contest.
The Thai legend set a blistering pace from the opening bell, unleashing his trademark combinations against his younger adversary. Meanwhile, Kongthoranee opted to take a more measured approach and carefully picked his spots with well-placed counters.
Midway through the second frame, Kongthoranee shifted the momentum after staggering Nong-O with a thunderous left hand. Instead of backing down, the Thai icon responded with renewed intensity, punishing his compatriot with his signature body kicks.
The third and final stanza featured explosive exchanges between the two fighters, but it was Nong-O who proved to be the better man with his technical prowess and precision striking. All three judges scored the bout in favor of Nong-O to win by unanimous decision.
In the co-main event, reigning ONE Welterweight Submission Grappling World Champion Tye Ruotolo successfully retained his gold by defeating Canadian rival Dante Leon in their highly anticipated trilogy match.
The American put together a clinical performance, showcasing his superiority with a relentless attack from various positions.
Despite Leon’s best defensive efforts, the Canadian star failed to neutralize Ruotolo’s onslaught and was unable to mount any significant offense of his own.
In the end, Ruotolo’s controlled aggression and technique netted him the unanimous decision victory on the judges’ scorecards.
