ONE Championship rankings update (December 2021)

As the calendar year closes out, there are still some shifts to be made across the landscape of ONE. Here is your final ONE Championship rankings update of 2021.

ONE Championship rankings

Jarred Brooks was previously not a part of the rankings hierarchy but he is now the number three strawweight. This came on the heels of his promotional debut where he submitted Lito Adiwang in the second round of their ONE: Next Gen III main event bout.

Bokang Masunyane is number one at strawweight (advancing one spot).

While he does have back-to-back wins inside the ONE Circle, it has still been over a year since Masunyane has competed. The EFC and Pancrase veteran is 8-0 overall as a pro but has a fourteen-fight win streak dating back to his amateur mixed martial arts days.

Yosuke Saruta dropped one in that divisional hierarchy to now be number two. Saruta’s last outing saw him fall short in his bid for the ONE strawweight world championship as he was knocked out in his rubber match against Joshua Pacio at ONE: Revolution.

Hiroba Minowa and Alex Silva both dropped one in the hierarchy and are now number four and five at strawweight, respectively.

Hiroba Minowa is a Shooto veteran who has two top-level victories inside the ONE Circle so far. He has defeated both Lito Adiwang and Alex Silva with both wins coming by way of split decision.

Alex Silva now has consecutive victories put together after a pair of split decision defeats. To reigning strawweight world champion Joshua Pacio and that aforementioned loss to Minowa.

Silva’s last outing saw him submit Rene Catalan in the first round of their ONE: Next Gen III rematch. Silva and Catalan ran it back after first testing skills in April 2013.

ONE featherweight movement

Yoshiki Nakahara was previously unranked but is now the number five featherweight within ONE Championship.

While Nakahara does have back-to-back wins in the Circle, his addition is a tad curious in terms of timing. Just because the last instance of Nakahara competing was in April at ONE on TNT II.

What are your thoughts on the final ONE Championship rankings update of 2021?
