ONE: Unbreakable III results (Stamp Fairtex submits in the waning seconds)

ONE Championship got back at it on Friday and here are your ONE: Unbreakable III results. The finale for ONE’s Unbreakable series featured six engaging mixed martial arts contests with 83 percent of the bouts ending inside the distance.

Fairtex finished and Andrade victorious

In the main event, submission specialist Alyona Rassohyna stymied an impressive all-around performance from #5-ranked atomweight mixed martial arts contender Stamp Fairtex. Rassohyna did so via submission in the waning seconds of the third frame.

Stamp showcased her striking advantages early on. She was attacking Rassohyna with elbows in close quarters and putting together good punching combos at kickboxing range.

Rassohyna was able to find moments of bringing the bout to the canvas. It was there she threatened with the armbar, but the former two-sport ONE World Champion Fairtex showcased quality submission defense; warding off several attempts from Rassohyna.

In the third frame, a scramble unfurled that saw Rassohyna catch Stamp in a guillotine choke. This forced the tap with only seconds left. It is the first time tasting defeat in the MMA ranks for Stamp Fairtex.

In the co-main event, rising Fabricio Andrade put on a masterful striking performance. He outpaced #2-ranked bantamweight Shoko Sato over three competitive rounds en route to a unanimous decision. Sato largely shot for takedowns with Andrade utilized his superior striking skills to keep Sato at a range where he couldn’t fully utilize his wrestling.

A slicing elbow from Andrade opened up Sato’s forehead in the final frame to punctuate the performance. In the end, all three judges saw Andrade as the victor and scored accordingly.

ONE Warrior Series standout Ryuto Sawada submitted Robin Catalan in the opening round. Sawada used his opponent’s aggression to initiate grappling exchanges. Catalan showed gumption but Sawada was diligent in his approach. Near the end of the first frame, Sawada got to Catalan’s back and sunk in the rear-naked choke to close out the contest.

Kang Ji Won met Mehdi Barghi in a high impact heavyweight clash. Barghi got right to it with the freestyle wrestling and looked to bully his opponent around. He gained full mount and unleashed ground-and-pound but Kang eventually reversed circumstances on the canvas. He then took advantage of an exhausted Barghi and poured on consistent ground and pound until the referee intervened.

Ahmed Mujtaba made a noteworthy return to action by Rahul Raju. This win came from a quick one-punch knockout in the opening frame. Raju looked for openings from range while Mujtaba focused on the economy of movement centric to landing power strikes. A destructive overhand right cracked Raju’s chin and u his lights out.

The opener for ONE: Unbreakable III saw Tial Thang and Paul Lumihi. These bantamweights traded bombs in tight to kick off the pugilistic proceedings. Lumihi favored a wider stance and came heavy with fast kicks from the outside. Tial Thang looked to close the distance and did so in the second round. Once Thang got the fight to the canvas, he uncorked a myriad of punches to notch the TKO victory.
