Pat Mix: “I’m trying to take out these big names”
Unbeaten Pat Mix (11-0) is a former King of the Cage champion, who made a statement in his Bellator debut submitting Ricky Bandejas in just over a minute.
How does it feel to have gone out there and have performed the way you wanted, to make that kind of statement?
“It felt great man. I knew what I set out to do, and I just went out there and did it. It was a lot of weight off my shoulders. I did it in style and fashion, just like I wanted to. So, I was happy about it.”
I believe Bantamweight Champion, Kyogi Horiguchj, only has to defend the title once a year with his obligations to RIZIN. What does that do to your focus? What are you looking for next?
“I’m looking at taking out any and all comers. I’m trying to be here in the gym getting better every day. I’m dangerous. Like I said, I’ve never lost a fight. I’ve never lost a round. So, I’m trying to take out these big names. These big-time fighters. These ex-Bellator champions, whoever’s in my way to earn that shot and if he’s only going to defend one time a year, I’m going to make sure that one time is going to be against me.”
Where you’re at right now, what’s the next step in progression for you?
“The next step is just adding different skills and tools to hurt guys. Put em’ away. Put em’ out of commission mid-fight. I can’t be going to the decision. I need to be hurting guys or choking them unconscious. One of the two.”
