Patchy Mix, Bellator 295

Patchy Mix KO’s Raufeon Stots early, claims interim title, grand prix championship, million-dollar check, at Bellator 295

Bellator MMA returned to us tonight, April 22, 2023, for Bellator 295, going down live from Neal S. Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Headlining the event was the bantamweight grand prix final between interim champion Raufeon Stots (19-1) and no. 2 ranked Patchy Mix (17-1), as undisputed champion Sergio Pettis was forced to withdraw himself from the competition due to injury.

Raufeon Stots came into the contest on an 11-fight win streak, including a 7-0 run thus far into his Bellator tenure, only ever losing to current no. 1 ranked UFC bantamweight contender Merab Dvalishvili in their ROC title bout back in 2017.

Patchy Mix on the other hand came in on a four-fight win streak, having gone 7-1 thus far into his promotional tenure, with his most recent victories coming over former Rizin & Bellator champion Kyoji Horiguchi, as well as former ACB champion Magomed Magomedov.

Official Result: Patchy Mix def. Raufeon Stots (KO) knee at 1:20 of round one

Stots opens up the bout with a nice leg kick, and the two settle into the fight.

Both men are looking sharp early on, though Mix lands a perfectly timed and placed knee 80 seconds in that KO’s Stots on the spot.

Mix partially lands a needless left hand immediately following, claiming just the second knockout victory of his career, as well as the interim Bellator bantamweight championship, and the bantamweight gran prix championship at Bellator 295.

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
