Paul Craig vs. Volkan Oezdemir set for UFC London

An intriguing light heavyweight bout between Paul Craig and Volkan Oezdemir has been added to the upcoming UFC London card set for July.

The UFC announced on Thursday that Craig will face off with Oezdemir at UFC London, which takes place on July 23 at The O2 Arena in London, England. It’s expected to be a main card attraction.

Craig (16-4-1) is the No. 8 ranked light heavyweight in the UFC. The 34-year-old Scotland native is fighting in the best form of his MMA career to date right now as he’s unbeaten over his last six fights. He’s currently riding a four-fight win streak overall, with victories over Nikita Krylov, Jamahal Hill, Shogun Rua, and Gadzhimurad Antigulov. After struggling with inconsistency throughout his first few years inside the Octagon, Craig has really stepped on the gas pedal as of late and he has exceeded expectations, winning several of his recent fights as an underdog. Craig has one of the nastiest Brazilian jiu-jitsu games in the entire sport of MMA, and he’s quickly closing in on the light heavyweight top-10.

Oezdemir (17-6) is the No. 9 ranked light heavyweight in the UFC. The 32-year-old Swiss native is currently struggling inside the Octagon as he’s lost two straight fights to Magomed Ankalaev and Jiri Prochazka, but he does have some notable wins over the likes of Aleksandar Rakic and Ilir Latifi. Oezdemir is a huge power puncher so he makes for an intriguing matchup against Craig, who has been knocked out several times in his UFC career. It is a little surprising that Craig has been matched up with someone lower than him in the rankings, but that doesn’t change the fact that Oezdemir is dangerous. This should be an awesome fight at 205lbs for as long as it lasts.

Who do you think wins this light heavyweight bout between Paul Craig and Volkan Oezdemir?
