Preston Parsons talks upcoming fight and his gym’s success
Preston Parsons has seen a lot in three -ight UFC career.
For starters, Parsons has been bite by the injury bug as he’s had two had injures, but Parsons believes that those days are behind him.
Another rough thing Parsons has seen has to deal with is a split decision loss which occurred in his last fight fight.
Parsons felt that he won rounds one and three in his narrow loss to Trevin Giles, but unfortunately two of the judges didn’t see it that way and that hurt Parsons in more ways than his record.
With the loss, Pasrsons didn’t receive a win bonus and it puts his UFC record at 1-2 and now he enters his final fight on his UFC contract.
The pressure for a win is there for Parsons as he’ll most likely need a win to get offered a second contract by the UFC and Parsons is welcoming that pressure ahead of UFC Vegas 84.
On Jan. 13, Parsons will take on Bassil Hafez at UFC Vegas 84 and Parsons is aware that his opponent has some hype behind him, but he’s grinding away in Jacksonville, Fla. and he’s planning on getting a win and another contract in the process.
In the meantime, while there has been some stressful moments, there has also been some great moments in Parsons young UFC career.
Last year in 2022, Parsons earned his first career UFC win and he’s now been winning alongside some teammates.
Parsons has been very beneficial to the grow of MMA in Jacksonville as he owns the main gym in the area called Elevate MMA.
Since Parsons has spent his whole career in the northern part of Florida, he still remembers the days where there was no UFC fighters.
Now those days no longer exists as the gym has a few UFC fighters, including former NFL player Austen Lane. The gym also has other great professional fighter like Jakub Kaszuba, who just won the PFL European lightweight title.
Parsons is happy with the growth of the sport in Jacksonville and he plans on continuing the that growth right after he takes care of business at UFC Vegas 84.
