Randy “Rambo” Lamb Cage Wars 40 Welterweight Title Fight Interview | CCMMA Podcast

Randy “Rambo” Lamb (9-5) will stand across from the Cage Wars welterweight champion, Jake Davis (5-1) when the cage door closes. Lamb is coming off an impressive victory against Frank Mazepa (also fighting on the Cage Wars 40 card) in the first round at Cage Wars 39. Cage Wars 40: Night of Champions will return to the beautiful Rivers Casino and Resort in Schenectady, New York. The Albany based promotion re-inked a deal to return to the casino for a total of five times in 2019. Doors will open at 5:30 PM while fights kick off at 7 PM inside the Event Center just outside the casino floor.

Lamb, 40, nicknamed “Rambo” lived up to the label as he battled through muddy terrain to defeat his last opponent. Being a shorter fighter, Lamb’s opponent at Cage Wars 39, Frank Mazepa used his reach. Early in the first round, Lamb found himself in trouble and nearly being finished. The former United States Marine defended the Rear-Naked choke and penetrated past Mazepa’s reach to grab hold of his hips for an impressive double leg takedown. Once Lamb brought Mazepa to the canvas of the Cage Wars cage, he immediately went to work sinking in a Rear-Naked choke himself and finishing Mazepa in the first round by way of submission. The finish came at 2:10.

This victory over Mazepa earned “Rambo” a title shot at against highly talented and Cage Wars champion, Jake Davis. Davis enters the cage at 5-1 in his amateur career, coming off his only defeat to Isaiah Sackey-EL. Davis kept his title because Sackey-El didn’t make the required weight agreed upon for their title fight.

In the interview with Kyle Carroll of Carroll’s Corner MMA Podcast aired on MyMMANews.com, Lamb spoke about what’s in store for him in the upcoming year. He’s already booked for another fight in a different promotion after this title fight. He does believe he’ll have to defend his Cage Wars title if he exits the cage victorious. After these two fights, and possibly a title defense, Lamb may make the decision to turn professional. It’s a goal of his to compete in at least one professional fight.

The soon to be grandfather will be fighting for the first time without his son Logan by his side, as his son will be expecting his first child. Watch the entire interview to see what Lamb has to say about his upcoming fight.
