Renan Ferreira Focused on Best Version of Himself

Renan Ferreira faces Maurice Greene in the Heavyweight Semi-finals of the PFL 2023 season. He has gone 2-0 this season and the PFL calls him the “tallest fighter in the division” standing at 6’8”. He is having a better year in the PFL than last year and he does not want to do anything to break his stride.

His opponent who is only an inch shorter than he is could present problems but Ferreira told media on fight week that, he is not focused on where Greene may or may not be better than him, he is only focused on being the best version of himself.

Ferreira said through a translator, “Maurice is a guy that changes his stances a lot, he throws a lot of oblique kicks. Those are things any opponent should be cautious of, but I’m focusing more on my game than his.”

Greene has six wins by submission and has trained a lot with Jon Jones but what Ferreira is doing is not unheard of. Sometimes focusing on too much of what an opponent might do can distract fighters from what they all want to do, which is win and advance to the finals. Any “flaws and holes” in either fighter’s game will be exposed on Friday night according to Ferreira.

He may be the biggest man on the roster but nothing looks bigger than the chance all the competitors have in the playoffs in New York City. Ferreira seemed very aware of that fact when he addressed the media. Check out his full media scrum above and keep following MyMMANews for more PFL content.
