ONE on TNT 1 emanated from Singapore Indoor Stadium on Wednesday, April 7th. ONE Championship’s inaugural foray on the network produced a lot of buzzed-about happenings.

A champion defending their crown, elite Muay Thai in four once gloves, and some high octane kickboxing were but a few of the highlights.

At the ONE on TNT 1 Post-Fight Presser, I spoke with Oumar Reug Reug Kane after his second win in ONE Championship, now going 3-0 as a pro.

I also spoke with Raimond Magomedaliev who bested former ONE title challenger Tyler McGuire.

I’m just kind of curious because there was the last-minute opponent switch here for you (from Mehdi Barghi to Patrick Schmid who lost via first-round TKO) but it seems like you maintained the composure and just smashed your way to that 3-0 record now. So how do you feel? Is there a certain level of relief?

“I trained good. I have prepared to fight in Dubai. With ten people in Dubai. People came from Senegal. I thank also my coach.”

With TNT being such a prominent platform in North America, what did it mean for Reug Reug to get to showcase his brand of Senegalese wrestling to a brand new set of fans checking things out for the first time?

“I’m very proud to represent Senegal in the ONE Championship program. I’m glad to be part of this competition. It is known everywhere in the world, compared to the wrestling in Senegal which is unknown to the whole world.”

It seems like with this fight, there was real efficiency with some of the clinch positions and integrating knees and elbows. But just a real grueling kind of battle, also with the grappling exchanges. Was that how that Raimond had seen the bout playing out? Was that kind of in the game plan?

“Well, I’m a fighter who likes to fight in the standing position. So I don’t really go for grappling unless my opponent tries to go in. Then of course, I will defend myself in that sense. And I saw lots of loopholes in the fight with Tyler (McGuire). But this is what happened. And you know, it’s all as you guys saw during the fight. It didn’t go well, as according to my plan.”
