Ring of Combat 70 results – Several titles on the line in Atlantic City

Ring of Combat makes a venue change in Atlantic City, New Jersey, for tonight’s Ring of Combat 70 fight card, moving to the Showboat Casino while renovations are being made at the promotion’s home in the Tropicana. The event will be broadcast live on UFC Fight Pass.

The Ring of Combat middleweight title was on the line as hard-hitting champion Joseph ‘Body Bagz’ Pyfer defended against the challenger, Jhonoven Pati.  Pyfer had a dominating first round, only to get submitted from a standing guillotine choke early in the second.  Pati is your new ROC middleweight champ.

Tim Dooling answered the call on short notice to replace featherweight champion Frankie Buenaufuente. Dooling with battle Ryan Kim Cafaro for the promotion’s interim featherweight strap.  Amazing performance and fight by both competitors but it was Dooling who gets his hand raised and claims the title after submitting Cafaro in the third round.

Two former UFC fighters met at 185-pounds when New Jersey’s own George Sullivan took on a veteran of 70 professional fights in Joe “Diesel” Riggs.  The duo were fighting for the promotion’s superfight title.  It was a pretty dominant performance for Riggs who maintained positive top control, frustrating Sullivan in the process.  Riggs puts Sullivan away in the third frame.  Following the fight, Sullivan gets on the microphone to address the crowd, congratulating Riggs, but also stating that this would be his final fight as he retires to spend time with his wife and child.

The first three fights of the night all went to the judges’ scorecards before Troy Green knocked out Lirim Rufati very early in the very first round.

Oh my goodness….. what a knockout.  Dennin Buzukia lands a spinning back elbow on William Calhoun.  Devastating.
