Rodrigo Nascimento uses size and grappling to defeat Tanner Boser at UFC Vegas 60

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to us tonight, September 17, 2022, for UFC Vegas 60, going down live from the Apex Center in Enterprise, Nevada.

Headlining the event is a bantamweight clash, as no. 4 ranked Cory Sandhagen (14-4) faces no. 10 ranked Song Yadong (19-5-1-1) in the main event of the evening.

Co-headlining the event is a middleweight encounter between Chidi Njokuani (22-7) and Gregory Rodrigues (12-4).

Our second bout on the main card tonight came in the heavyweight division between Tanner Boser (20-8-1) and Rodrigo Nascimento (8-1). Boser has secured knockout victories in his last three wins, while Nascimento has finished all eight of his wins, five in a row via submission.

Official Result: Rodrigo Nascimento def. Tanner Boser via split decision (30-27, 28-29, 29-28)

Boser has a tough time throughout the first five minutes due to the size of Nascimento, being the smaller party by 32 lbs. Boser is unable to keep Nascimento off him, as he spends the majority of round one on his back.

Nascimento then comes out and lands some heavy shots through the first couple minutes of the second, but is cracked with a vicious overhand from Boser and stunned badly. He secures a trip takedown not long afterward however, and nearly sinks in a rear naked choke finish.

Nonetheless, he did remain on top for the rest of round two, and he’s probably up 20-18 going into the third and final round. Nascimento secures a double leg takedown about one minute into the third and he would have stayed on top for the remainder of the fight, but the referee stood them up with 30 seconds left.

Boser spends the final seconds throwing heavy shots with a lot of intent, but it wasn’t enough to stop Nascimento.

Rodrigo Nascimento improves his record to 9-1 (1 NC) tonight at UFC Vegas 60, as he picks up his first win in over two years.

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
