Ryan Spann and Ion Cutelaba rebooked for May
Light heavyweight finishers Ryan Spann and Ion Cutelaba have a new date for their anticipated bout.
Originally scheduled for the February 26th UFC Fight Night, the two will now meet on May 14th.
Spann (19-7-0) is coming off of a main event slot against Anthony Smith in which he lost by way of rear-naked choke in the first round. Before that, however, the 30-year-old had defeated top contenders in Devin Clark and Sam Alvey. He also scored a “performance of the night” for his spectacular TKO of Misha Cirkunov at UFC Fight Night: Edwards vs. Muhammad.
As a professional, Spann has recorded 16 finishes out of his 19 wins.
28-year-old, Cutelaba (16-6-1) has gone 5-5 since signing with the UFC and has defeated the likes of Gadzhimurad Antigulov, Khalil Rountree, and Devin Clark. “The Hulk” has only gone to decision 3 times out of his 23 fights. Of his 16 wins, he has finished 14 of them before the final bell.
The matchup will come on a card that will also feature bantamweights Louis Smolka vs. Davey Grant, middleweights Nick Maximov vs. Andre Petroski, and top women’s flyweights Amanda Ribas vs. Katlyn Chookagian.
There is no main event or location announced quite yet for the May 14th event, but make sure to check back at MyMMANews for updates as the card develops.
