Said Nurmagomedov defeats Douglas Silva de Andrade at UFC Vegas 58

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to us tonight, July 9, 2022, for UFC Vegas 58, going down live from the UFC Apex in Enterprise, Nevada.

Headlining the event is a pair of ranked lightweights in former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos (no. 7) and multi-time kickboxing world champion Rafael Fiziev (no. 10).

Co-headlining is a middleweight showcase between relative unknown talents Caio Borralho and Armen Petrosyan.

Our feature fight of the night came in the bantamweight division between two absolute studs in Russian prospect Said Nurmagomedov (15-2) and Brazilian powerhouse Douglas Silva de Andrade (28-4).

Each of these talents came into this bout tonight on two-fight win streaks, each of them securing finishes (one KO & one submission) in both outings.

Official Result: Said Nurmagomedov def. Douglas Silva de Andrade via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)

Nurmagomedov opens up the bout with a spinning back kick, allowing de Andrade to come in and tie up with him.

It’s not long however until they’re back to striking range and Nurmagomedov gets his wide array of kicks going. Nurmagomedov is circling along the outside of the fence landing nice strikes on his Brazilian adversary but gets dropped with a spinning back fist at the end of the second.

De Andrade opens up the third with a thunderous slam, though Nurmagomedov is right back to his feet and secures a takedown of his own not long after.

But, de Andrade also proves difficult to hold down, as they’re back to their feet. Both men have success in the striking department throughout the third; it appeared de Andrade was getting the better of the exchanges through the majority of the third, but Nurmagomedov came on strong at the end of the round with back-to-back head kicks.

Said Nurmagomedov is now 16-2 as a professional (5-1 UFC), and he’s now on a three-fight win streak with this victory.

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
