Sara McMann talks upcoming fight against Aspen Ladd and future plans

Sara McMann had her fight with Aspen Ladd pushed back a month and she didn’t have a problem with the UFC making that decision.

Originally, McMann and Ladd were booked to fight on Aug. 13 at UFC San Diego, but Ladd test posited for COVID-19 two weeks before the fight and Ladd was removed from the event.

McMann was hoping to remain on the card and get a short notice opponent, but she wanted someone ranked in front of her. Eventually, UFC decided to just push the fight with Ladd back to UFC Vegas 60 on Sept. 17.

For McMann, she used an analogy of having a major project due in school and the teacher decided to push the project back a few weeks as she feels the extra few weeks to prepare will serve as a benefit to her.

Now McMann is using the extra few weeks to sharpen her skill for the big time matchup in the women’s bantamweight division as Ladd and McMann come into the right ranked No. 7 and No. 8. If McMann is to win, that will give her back-to-back wins and some serious momentum in the division.

Prior to the fight, the former Olympic silver medalist in wrestling spoke with MyMMANews to discuss her upcoming fight with Ladd, the plans for the rest of her career, if a move to featherweight would ever be in consideration and she gave a little throw back to her college days at Lock Haven University.

You can watch her full interview in the video above.
