Sean Woodson says first loss showed him he belongs here

Sean Woodson is one of the UFC’s most exciting prospects, a Contender Series veteran and signee, Woodson is looking to overcome his first professional defeat. Nearly a year ago, Woodson suffered defeat to Julian Erosa. On June 5th he looks to get back in the win column, against Factory X’s Youssef Zalal.

“Hard to believe but the biggest lesson I took is that I belong there,” Woodson told MyMMAnews. “I was no where near as prepared as I normally am, going into that fight. My opponent had 3 times as many fights as me, I was waiting to feel that experience difference, that wasn’t the case. I definitely like my skills were leagues above his, being at 20 % of myself, I had that fight won,” Woodson continued. “I gassed out.”

Factory X, head coached by Marc Montoya,  has some of the top athletes on the planet and one of them is Youssef Zalal. At only 24, Zalal has his back up against the wall in a way, losing 2 straight, attempting to avoid a 3rd in a row. Woodson is fully prepared for everything Zalal can throw his way.

“Factory X is one of the most well known gyms in the world,” Woodson began. “Youssef is a really good fighter, started off his UFC career 3-0, dropped his last two but I don’t take anything from him. This matchup, he’s an exciting fighter, I’m an exciting fighter either way you cut it this won’t be a boring fight.”
