- After writing for Ultimate MMA magazine and serving as the editor for U.S. Combat Sports, both of which went on hiatus, I decided to venture out on my own and enlist a staff of writers and photographers that could help me achieve my goal of telling stories that would otherwise go untold. We pride ourselves in taking a deeper look into the fighter, and understanding what makes them click.

For today’s #TBT #ThrowbackThursday we revisit the time that Mike Heck of the SFLC Podcast interviewed Bellator MMA heavyweight Justin Wren. It’s a lengthy interview but I would be lying if I told you that it was not one of the best interviews you will ever hear in MMA. Below is commentary from Mike. Trust us, you want to listen to this interview.
“I had the absolute honor to talk to current Bellator Heavyweight Justin Wren. You may remember him from the UFC, most notably Season 10 of the Ultimate Fighter.
What you may not know about is what he has been up to lately, and it is absolutely amazing!
He has written a book and started an organization with the same name “Fight For The Forgotten”, which you can buy right now at fightfortheforgotten.com.
Justin talks about his battles in the cage but also his battles growing up with bullying, depression & it continued into addiction. It also turned into a path to help the Pygmies in The Congo.
The numbers are absolutely staggering as you hear about in the podcast. As I explain in the podcast, this podcast isn’t about fame, it’s about giving people an outlet, it’s about lending a hand however we can.
So I ask of you, please share this episode, please get the word out about it. If there is any episode to absolutely get behind, let it be this one! Twitter – @SFLCPodcast ”
