Shawn Stefanelli champing at the bit to get back in cage…Title on the line at AOW 14

The wait is the worst part for many fighters as they go through camp, cut weight and hone their skills.  Shawn Stefanelli is one of those guys who is ready to jump in there and throw the gloves on and just go at it as soon as he gets a fight lined up.  He hasn’t been in the cage since March due to opponents falling off or scheduling conflicts.  That will all change on November 23rd.

Stefanelli (3-2)  will square off with Christian”Strictly Business” Carr in Lebanon, PA for the Art of War Advanced Amateur bantamweight title belt when Mike Bickings hosts AOW 14 at the Expo Center.  I recently spoke with Shawn about his upcoming battle.  You can see our full interview in the link above.   I asked him about his opponent and he says…

“I don’t care and I don’t know much about him.  I don’t like to watch much film at all.  My coaches have seen every one of his fights and I just listen to them and do whatever I need to do to execute the game-plan.  A fight is a fight and we are just going to go in there and punch each other in the face.  James Booth is an unbelievable jiu-jitsu instructor and has me ready for anything on the ground.  I just can’t wait!”

This is a very interesting match-up.  Stefanelli has a grinder’s mentality and comes from a very strong camp at Grindhouse MMA featuring UFC fighter Sean Brady, BJJ standout James Booth and a nice group of teammates helping him prepare.  Jerry Bradley has also been a huge influence for his morale and overall outlook on mixed martial arts.  Carr is undefeated for a reason and comes from a great camp as well at Gracie 717 while also working out with the fight team at Algeo MMA and Kickboxing.  This bout will be sanctioned under advanced amateur rules which means both of these guys will compete for the first time without shin pads and strikes to the head will be allowed on the ground.
